General Objectives:
Assist in providing and finding services for young adults transitioning out of foster care and out of home care by focusing on preparation for and retention of employment.
Nature and Scope of Position:
· This time limited, exempt (anticipated 2 year duration) position reports directly to the Community Specialist – Project Coordinator.
· This full time position is expected to work 40 hours per week. Workweeks in excess of 40 hours needed at times. Travel may be required for meetings, conferences, and events. Evening and weekend work may be needed in community events and meetings.
· This position will work both independently and as part of a team to improve and expand services to young people transitioning out of foster care and out of home care in the area of finding and retaining employment.
· This position will regularly interface with the community, including other private agencies, government agencies, for-profit entities, employers, recruiting services, human resource professionals, young people and families in the community.
· Physical requirements include local travel, occasional out of town travel, facilitation and presentation skills, proofreading and training skills.
· Driving on Casey business requires adherence to the Vehicle Safety Guidelines.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The Case Manager - Employment Services assists in the expansion of the transition services offered by the field office using the model established and agreed upon. Primarily, the position will ensure that young people develop a career development path that includes employment to meet immediate needs.
2. Identify target population for services and meet with individuals to set up employment and educate as to services available for transitioning young adults.
3. Reach out to organizations, businesses, and individuals who can become involved and help support the employment and success of young adults in the community. Facilitates meetings and initiates convening of appropriate partners to find employment resources and communicate these resources to the target population.
4. Assists young adults in preparation for employment including resume and applications, interviewing skills, and workplace demeanor.
5. Assists young adults in retaining and succeeding in the workforce through ongoing coaching.
6. Maintain resource allocation according to model agreed upon.
7. Document and report on case management, number of young people served through the program, successes and lessons learned. Meet all requirements for data collection or licensing purposes. Adheres to deadlines for completed, accurate reporting as required.
8. Responsible for continuous quality improvement within the function.
9. Coordinates work with other work groups or teams that may influence work product and outcomes. Communicates effectively with others.
10. Brings expertise of new trends and technologies to the team and applies appropriate improvements and changes to enhance the outcomes of the group.
11. Addresses the issue of disproportionality of children of color in the child welfare system and undoing racism.
12. Ensures safety for young people and children in care.
13. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Understands and adheres to code of ethics and practice for social work and employment / recruiting. Maintains appropriate boundaries with young people and families served.
14. Ensures alignment with organizational values, goals, and directives in all work performed.
15. Acts as a good steward of Casey resources – in expenses/funding, but also in labor hours in applying appropriate amounts of resources to each project. Looks for ways to maximize effective communications with cost and effort leveraged.
16. Ensures adherence to Casey policies in all matters of practice, contracts, communications, resources, personnel and reporting.
17. Works on projects, acts as committee member, and performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution or a related human service field and two years experience working in a social service agency is required. The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check and meet any requirements for licensure/certification in the state/county of practice. The position requires case management skills, as well as good organizational and time management skills. Interviewing and counseling abilities are essential; must have solid interpersonal, teaching, and teamwork skills and be able to work a flexible schedule. Experience working with families, adolescents, and young adults is necessary. Knowledge of community and resources is desirable. The ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information is imperative, as well as clear, concise verbal and written communications skills.
Being an employee of Casey Family Programs requires comfort and ease in applying technology to the provision of services. Basic computer knowledge and experience with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is necessary. An appreciation of the importance of retrieving and analyzing data is essential.

Must be able to work and succeed in stressful circumstances. The demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the community, youth, and co-workers is essential. Depending on the community and the job functioning, the ability to speak other languages may be a preference.
Must pass a criminal background check. In the event of Casey business that requires use of a personal vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and proof of insurance.
