Gary R. Severson, Chair

Gary Severson has been a trustee of Casey Family Programs since 1996 and chair since 2001. He is the former chairman of the board of First Interstate Bank of Washington (now Wells Fargo Bank). He had been with First Interstate since 1983 and before that with Security Pacific Bank and Bank of America in London and Los Angeles. He additionally serves Casey as a director of Marguerite Casey Foundation.

Severson holds an M.B.A. and B.A. from Stanford and an M.S. from the University of Southern California, is actively engaged in the Seattle business community, and has served on numerous boards and advisory committees that reflect his diverse interests. Gary is chairman of Laird Norton Tyee, Inc., director of Wentworth, Hauser and Violich, Inc., and a director of Farmers New World Life Insurance, Inc. He is chairman emeritus of the board of regents of Pacific Lutheran University, past president of the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington and Pacific Coast Banking School, and past chairman of Partners in Public Education, Trade Development Alliance of Greater Seattle, and Washington Council on International Trade.

As chair of the board of trustees, Severson also chairs the Executive Committee. He is chair of the Audit Committee and lead trustee for Diversity, Institutional Relations, and Legal Services.
