In operation since 1986, the San Antonio field office serves youth and families in San Antonio and its six surrounding counties.

Keeping children in extended families
Most of the youth we serve live with relatives. We also provide direct services to a small number of foster families.

We collaborates closely with other agencies to assist youth in kinship care. Of those we serve, 56 percent are Hispanic, one-third are Caucasian, and 7 percent are African American.

Collaborating to serve youth in transition
Casey Family Programs San Antonio Transition Services began helping youth and young adults 18-25 who have been in foster care find life-long permanent connections. San Antonio’s Transition Services program accomplishes this by coupling permanency-focused case management with engagement strategies most suited for improving permanency outcomes for youth and young adults according to their age and the unique opportunities they present. Services are offered to youth and young adults referred by Region 8 Texas Department of Family and Protective Services in Bexar County.

The program provides services and assistance for:

  • Short term and intense case management focused on achieving legal permanency and permanent connections
  • Family Finding
  • Birth Family Engagement
  • Reunification Support
  • Family Group Conferences
  • Assistance in understanding the benefits of legal permanency
  • Support to youth and families in reducing barriers preventing legal permanency
  • Support to youth and families in managing family group dynamics through education
  • Skill building groups
  • Youth development opportunities
.

Financial Assistance

  • Limited assistance provided to support well-being needs that will support permanency connections.
  • Legal fees associated with obtaining legal permanency
