Community Transition Services Center
San Antonio's Community Transition Services Center opened its doors in 2000. The center addresses the needs of emancipated foster youth ages 18-25 in Bexar County, Texas. The center helps fill a critical service gap for many young adults who struggle to make the transition to adulthood.
In partnership with local organizations like Alamo Community College District and Alamo Workforce, the center helps connect young people with:
- case management services
- food and housing
- education and vocational training
- personal and cultural identity development
- employment
- counseling
- parenting and childcare assistance
- advice on legal issues
- life skills training
- financial literacy training
- economic development
By and for alumni of care
The center's staff collaborate with alumni elected by their peers to an Alumni Advisory Council. Council members' terms expire after they have served one year.
In addition to working with the transition center staff, the council also advises Casey's San Antonio Field Office.
