America Bracho, Casey Board Member, Receives Prestigious Award

America Bracho, a Casey Family Programs Board Member, received the 2008 James Irvine Foundation Leadership Award for her continued commitment to improving access to health care for Latino immigrants. The prestigious award is given to outstanding Californians who are advancing innovative and effective solutions to critical issues in California.

Bracho was recognized for her work with the Latino Health Access (LHA). Bracho founded the LHA in 1993 to help Latino immigrants have better access to health care and to advance policies that improve well-being. Bracho states about her work, “Change come from understanding that, as an individual in a community, you have a lot of power. As an individual, you can mobilize an entire city.”

The James Irvine Foundation is largest multi-issue foundation focused exclusively on the state of California.
