WHAT:
Sponsored by Casey Family Programs, this free event at the base of the Space Needle will celebrate National Foster Care Month with a special emphasis on foster parent recruitment.
Event will include speakers, informational booths, as well as activities to keep children entertained such as face painters, caricature artists, jugglers and balloon artists.
Cake and ice cream will be served in honor of the Seattle-based Casey Family Programs' 40th anniversary.
National Foster Care Month is designed to highlight issues surrounding the 518,000 youth in foster care across the country and to help honor and recognize the many caring individuals and organizations that work year-round on their behalf.
WHO:
Special Guest: A presentation by Regina Louise, foster care alumna, author of the best selling memoir Somebody's Someone, and noted speaker on foster care. Louise also founded the Esther Collins Memorial Children's Foundation for Literacy to help the underserved youth in foster care.
Center/Forward Simone Edwards of Seattle Storm will be on hand in the afternoon to encourage families to get involved in the lives of youth in foster care.
