How do Casey Family Programs’ young people experience foster care? How do they fare after they leave care? How do they compare to other former foster youth and to their peers who have never experienced foster care?
Answers to these questions lie with the young adults who have received services from Casey.
The Casey Young Adult Survey (CYAS) is an annual cohort study of 19-, 22-, and 25-year-olds that examined outcomes among young adults who received foster care services from Casey Family Programs. The study examined experiences while in care and outcomes after leaving care. The CYAS was conducted every year between 2004 and 2006; this summary report includes combined findings for all three years of CYAS data collection.
