Written by Angela A. A. Willeto, this report draws upon empirical evidence from regional, state, and tribal studies. It includes:

  • Native American rates and percentages for 10 well-being indicators nationally and in 13 selected states
  • A discussion of the significant variability of Native American rates in the 13 states
  • Comments on the varying ease of accessibility to each state’s indicator data
  • Recommendations for addressing the well-being of Native American children

This 120-page report was published in December 2002 by the National Indian Children’s Alliance, a joint effort of the National Indian Child Welfare Association and Casey Family Programs.
