World Café
Applying the Science of Early Childhood Development to State Policy and Practice: a Case for Action and a Call for Innovation

The symposium's afternoon session was a dialogue hosted by Teresa Posakony from the Berkana Institute. Posakony used a dialogue method called World Café, which seeks to evoke a group's collective wisdom and increase participant’s capacity for effective action.

Small group discussion
During small group conversations, participants recorded their thoughts on tabletops. The Tabletops Summary document captures these conversational seeds, which help to instigate new thoughts about program, policy and service development.

Open discussions
The World Café Highlights document summarizes the themes and outcomes of the World Café's open discussions, which followed the small groups' tabletop activities.

Graphic records
An additional product of the symposium's World Café was a series of graphic records drawn by Steven Wright that depict the major insights generated by the group's discussion. The following slideshow presents these graphic records.
