Ella utiliza datos y enfoques de programas y pol\u00edticas eficaces que funcionan sobre el terreno para ayudar a justificar la promoci\u00f3n de reformas administrativas y legislativas federales positivas para los ni\u00f1os. Posee una comprensi\u00f3n \u00fanica de la importancia de centrarse en el ni\u00f1o en su totalidad y en las m\u00faltiples necesidades del mismo. La Sra. Bajo su liderazgo, el CDF se ha convertido en una de las voces m\u00e1s fuertes del pa\u00eds en favor de la infancia y las familias. La misi\u00f3n del CDF, Leave No Child Behind\u00ae (Ning\u00fan ni\u00f1o se queda atr\u00e1s), consiste en garantizar a cada ni\u00f1o un inicio saludable, un inicio adelantado, un inicio justo, un inicio seguro y un inicio moral en la vida, as\u00ed como una transici\u00f3n exitosa hacia la edad adulta con la ayuda de familias y comunidades solidarias. La Sra. Edelman se gradu\u00f3 de la Facultad de Derecho de Yale y fue la primera mujer negra admitida en el Colegio de Abogados de Misisipi. Dirigi\u00f3 la oficina del Fondo de Defensa Legal y Educativa de la NAACP en Jackson, Misisipi, y en 1968 se mud\u00f3 a Washington D.
