We at Casey Family Programs extend our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and Children\u2019s Defense Fund colleagues of MaryLee Allen, whose lifelong efforts on behalf of children touched countless lives across the country.<\/p>\n

We feel deeply fortunate that we were able to publicly honor her life\u2019s work at an event in May, where she received a much-deserved Life of Hope Award<\/a> in recognition of her commitment to ensure the safety and success of children, families and the communities where they live.<\/p>\n

As MaryLee said so aptly, reforming child welfare and reconnecting children and families is not a sport for sprinters. It\u2019s a sport for marathoners. Her endurance is an inspiration for all those who will continue on the pathway of hope in support of children and families. We are ever grateful that she led the way.<\/p>\n
