Bell and Casey Family Programs with its A.K. Guy Award on September 28, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The award is presented annually to outstanding community volunteers in memory of Albert K. Guy, business and community leader, volunteer and YMCA board member.<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA recognized and honored the work of Dr. Bell and Casey Family Programs, citing Dr. Bell\u2019s 40 years of transformational work in the human services field and his inspirational leadership of Casey Family Programs that is changing the landscape of foster care, not only in Washington state, but throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>In its announcement, the YMCA further cited Dr. Bell\u2019s demonstrated legacy and advocacy to positively change the lives of youth, young adults and families in foster care and beyond as paving the way for multiple generations to thrive and achieve their fullest potential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause of Dr. Bell and the work of Casey Family Programs, our community is stronger,\u201d said Loria Yeadon, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Seattle.\u00a0 \u201cBecause of their demonstrated, longstanding commitment to community, especially for those furthest from opportunity, we believe Dr. Bell and Casey Family Programs truly embody the ideals of the late Mr. Guy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n \n <!-- conversly to above, we need to not show the CTA here if it's the Head Section style -->\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"fifty-fifty backgrounds-and-margins-aware-block back-warm-ceramic margin-top margin-bottom padding-top padding-bottom wp-block-fifty-fifty\">\n <div class=\"container mx-auto px-5\">\n <div class=\"grid split-5050 media-left addon-none\">\n <div class=\"content pt-7 md:pt-0\">\n    <h2>A.K. Guy Award Ceremony.\" \/>\n  <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"content-section light fresh-text single wp-block-fresh-text backgrounds-and-margins-aware-block margin-top margin-bottom\">\n <div class=\"container mx-auto px-5\">\n\n \n \n <!-- The CTA is moved up next to the title when in the Head Section style -->\n \n  <div class=\"callout\"><p>In his acceptance and thank you speech, Dr. Bell encouraged the audience to give compassionately to the lives of someone else\u2019s children and spoke about the value of serving others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe greatest impact in your life will not be found in what you get in this lifetime, nor will it be found in the accolades that you may receive,\u201d he said. \u201cThe greatest impact in your life will be found in what you do for others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cService to others and volunteerism is not an optional act of kindness that we simply choose to offer to help those who are less fortunate than we are.\u00a0 Service to others and volunteerism is our obligation as members of an interdependent and interconnected community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>King County and the City of Seattle issued proclamations declaring September 28, 2022, as Dr. William Bell and Casey Family Programs Day.<\/p>\n<p>The YMCA presented four additional awards. Judge Richard and Leslie Jones received the Social Justice Award.
