Doug Patejunas selected as Casey Family Programs’ trustee
The Board of Trustees of Casey Family Programs has selected Doug Patejunas as its newest member. Patejunas, who begins the position on September 1, succeeds Bob Watt, who retired in June.
Casey Family Programs is the nation’s largest operating foundation focused on safely reducing the need for foster care and building Communities of Hope for children and families across America. Founded in 1966, Casey Family Programs works in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and with tribes to influence long-lasting improvements to the safety and success of children, families and the communities where they live.
Patejunas brings a long history of financial acumen and investment expertise to his role and will lead the board’s investments committee. He retired in 2014 after 30 years with Aon Hewitt Investment Consulting, where he served as lead investment consultant to a number of foundations and other not-for-profit organizations.
“I’m honored to serve as a trustee for a foundation that is working across the country to safely reduce the need for foster care and build hope for children and families,” Patejunas said. “I look forward to contributing to Casey Family Programs’ efforts on behalf of vulnerable children and families.”
His commitment to volunteer work includes serving currently and for the past eight years as a court-appointed special advocate for children in the child welfare system in Cook County, Illinois. In this role, he advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court and in other settings. Patejunas has also served on a variety of boards.

Patejunas has a B.S. degree in finance and economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an M.B.A. degree in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago. He is married and lives in Park Ridge, Illinois.
