Focus

We work in partnership with public child welfare systems, policymakers, courts, Tribal Nations and community partners across the country to support the development, sharing and implementation of policies, practices and strategies that improve child and family safety, stability and well-being.

These efforts reduce time that children spend away from family, expedite permanency and prevent the need for foster care. Our approach is rooted in listening, learning and partnering with those responsible for ensuring child and family well-being — especially children and families who have experienced the child welfare system.

Opportunity

We can work to close the gap between what we know works best for children and families and how they are actually served.

Each year, thousands of children come to the attention of child protection agencies. The decisions made and how they are addressed have long-lasting consequences. Casey Family Programs seeks to support public child protection agencies by providing and sharing effective strategies that reduce entries into foster care, decrease time children spend in care away from family, and increase exits to permanency.

We believe

Every community can create hope and opportunities for its children and families.

Making sure children remain safely with their families, communities and cultures is the outcome we seek by improving child welfare practice and policy. Safety is rooted in relationships with family and community; strengthening those relationships is key.

We must keep our eyes on the distant horizon and at the same time master the day-to-day problems that lie immediately before us.
