Focus
We partner with policymakers at the federal, Tribal, state and local levels to provide nonpartisan, accessible, evidence-based information and data to educate and inform investments and policies that benefit children and families.
Our efforts to safely reduce and ultimately prevent the need for foster care are bolstered by effective, broad-based approaches that are centered in community.
Opportunity
We can work with local leaders to ensure government investments are effective and aligned to improve the well-being outcomes that children and families need.
This area builds on decades of research into adverse childhood experiences, social determinants of health and other public health-based approaches. It requires child welfare agencies to work with children and families in developing more effective supports and interventions, as well as with community leaders, nonprofit providers, nontraditional support networks and other adjacent government systems. We recognize that all five sectors of a community ─ government, business, nonprofit and faith-based, philanthropy and community members themselves ─ need to be at the table and working collectively to improve existing community conditions so children and families have what they need to heal and thrive.
