Casey Family Programs’ Yakima Field Office opened in 1972. We serve central and eastern Washington, in the Department of Health and Human Services’ Region 2.

Become a foster parent
We recruit and train parents from all walks of life to become Casey foster parents. Please contact us if you’re interested in fostering in central or eastern Washington state.

Our services
Youth and families in need of child welfare and related services are referred to us through the Washington state foster care system. We provide:

  • Family Group Conferencing
  • Case management
  • Funding for clothing and activities
  • Job preparation and life skills training
  • Youth employment opportunities through the Chamber of Commerce
  • Diversity and disproportionality education
  • Referrals for mental health services
  • Transition services to help young people age 16 to 25 move from foster care to a successful adulthood

We bring foster and kinship families together to support each other, attend events, receive services, discover resources, and take classes to help them parent successfully. We help them achieve self-sufficiency and interdependency in their local communities.

Safely reducing the number of children in foster care
Casey Family Programs aims to safely reduce the number of children in foster care across the country by 50 percent by the year 2020.

The Yakima Field Office is contributing to Casey’s 2020 goals by working with local partners to reduce the amount of time youth spend in foster care and help them find forever families. Our partners in this work include:

  • Washington State Children’s Administration
  • Yakama Nation
  • Juvenile Courts
  • Child-placing agencies

Traditionally, youth have exited foster care through reunification, adoption and guardianship. Increasingly, our youth are also finding permanent homes through kinship care — primarily with grandparents, aunts, uncles or siblings.

Community outreach
In keeping with Casey’s 2020 goals, our Yakima Field office works to educate policymakers and the general public about the need to safely reduce the number of youth in out-of-home care and create opportunities for them to find forever families.
