Dr. Danielson is known throughout the Seattle community for being an advocate and leader for underserved children and their families, working to increase access to health care and fighting against racial inequities. He has facilitated the creation and development of diversity programs and contributed actively to governmental policy as a member of several health boards.

Dr. Danielson also serves on various boards of health-related organizations, philanthropic organizations and community groups dedicated to health issues including: the Governor’s Interagency Council on Health Disparities, the Washington State Public Health Advisory Board, the Greater Seattle YWCA board, the Fred Hutch Cancer Center Foundation Board, the Inatai Board, and the Center for Children and Youth Justice. He has served on the county public health board, the University of Washington Board, the Amara Foster/Adoption Organization Board, and others. Currently, he directs the Allies in Healthier Systems for Health & Abundance in Youth (AHSHAY) at the University of Washington School of Medicine to help address and prevent youth incarceration.

At Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic, Dr. Danielson focused on providing care that not only addressed the health needs of the child, but also the child as a whole. In 2008, Dr. Danielson founded the Washington Medical-Legal Partnership, a program dedicated to teaching doctors how to notice when outside factors may be affecting the health of a child. Through the medical-legal partnership, Dr. Danielson helped connect families to pro bono attorneys that could help patients deal with issues such as insurance problems and unsuitable living conditions.

Dr. Danielson was raised by a mother who instilled in him and his sisters the value of education and community service. After high school he attended Harvard University, earning a bachelor’s degree in ethology in 1986. He earned his M.D. at the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1992. In 1997 Dr. Danielson received his board certification in pediatrics from the American Board of Pediatrics.
